Lately, it seems as though everyone is a chef, a "foodie," wants a big kitchen or even Rachel Ray's new line of cookware. Not me! I love to bake, and only bake!
I'm not really sure when my obsession with baking began, but it is safe to say it has become a full blown obsession. From what I recall, it happened innocently enough. I began to make gingerbread men for Christmas, red sprinkled cupcakes for Valentines Day, and fruit tarts with peaches and nectarines from my grandpa's garden in the late summer. It escalated to brownies from scratch, homemade frosting and then...soufflé! It has since moved on to subscriptions to various baking magazines, and an entire organizer in my garage dedicated to tins of all shapes and sizes, tupperware, serving trays, containers to travel with and my favorite piping tip. I never thought I would have a favorite piping tip, but I guess crazier things have happened. Now, in the beginning I was an equal opportunity baker. Reaping as much enjoyment out of a 3 layer vanilla cake with fluffy coconut frosting as I did from red velvet cupcakes. Eventually, I found what I liked and stuck with it...cupcakes! Those small cakes in a cup, light on the utensils, and heavy on the deliciousness! I’ll gladly bake anything, but I think cupcakes are the cutest, most perfect treat there is!
